Sleeping bag

  • Packed Size & Weight: Essential for pannier space, down bags are generally the most compact. Using a compression dry sack can reduce size by 30-40%.

  • Temperature Rating: Prioritize the comfort rating (what you'll actually feel) over the extreme rating. A 3-season bag ( to limit) is recommended.

  • Insulation Type:

    • Down: Lightweight, highly compressible, and warm, but loses insulation if wet.

    • Synthetic: Cheaper, retains heat when damp, and quick-drying.

  • Shape: Mummy bags offer better thermal efficiency for cold, while rectangular bags provide more room.

  • Ramen/Instant Noodles: Add tuna packets for protein.

  • Instant mashed potatoes/Rice packets: Pair with smoked sausage or hard cheese.

  • Canned goods: Tuna, chicken, or stew (choose easy-open cans).

Camp clothes & shoes

Camp Clothes

  • Laundry: Pack a small travel soap bar to wash clothes, allowing for fewer clothes packed.

  • Organization: Store camp clothes in a separate waterproof dry bag to ensure they stay dry and clean.

Electronics

  • Power Banks: High-capacity banks are essential for charging phones, cameras, and drones.

  • Motorcycle Charger: Dual USB plugs wired to the ignition or battery allow charging while riding.

  • Headlamp: You will sometimes need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and it's best to see where you're squatting... bring extra batteries in a ziplock bag to keep dry.

  • Solar Panel: Lightweight, portable solar panels can provide trickle charging.
